Everything you need to know about our silicone hose

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes silicone hoses better than standard rubber hoses?

Our GASO premium silicone hoses offer superior performance and longevity compared to standard rubber hoses. They are engineered with a 4-ply reinforced construction and a thick 5mm wall, making them incredibly durable and resistant to collapsing under boost or vacuum. Unlike rubber, our high-grade silicone is extremely UV and heat resistant, withstanding continuous temperatures of 180°C and spikes of up to 220°C, preventing the cracking and fading common with rubber hoses in harsh Aussie conditions.

Are these silicone hoses suitable for turbo cars and utes?

Absolutely. Our hoses are a favourite among tuners and fabricators for a reason. They are designed to be rigid and flexible, meaning they won't expand or collapse under the high-pressure conditions of petrol and diesel turbo systems. They are also oil mist safe, making them perfect for handling blow-by vapours from the crankcase ventilation system without degrading. They are also a perfect choice for tuner cars such as the Subaru WRX, Nissan Skyline GT-R, Ford Focus RS, Ford Falcon XR6 Turbo Barra, and Holden VL Commodore .

Can I use this silicone hose for my vehicle's air intake or intercooler piping?

Yes! This is one of the primary applications. Our hoses feature a smooth interior finish, which is crucial for performance. This design improves airflow and reduces turbulence, allowing your engine to breathe more efficiently. And the 5mm wall strength makes them an ideal upgrade for the air intake, turbo, and intercooler piping on a wide range of vehicles.

Will this hose fit my turbo diesel ute? For example, a Ford Ranger or Toyota Hilux?

Our hoses are designed with a Universal Fit for a wide variety of applications, including many popular 4WDs and performance cars. They are trusted by owners of vehicles like the Ford Ranger, Toyota Hilux, Mitsubishi Triton, Isuzu D-MAX, Nissan Navara, Nissan Patrol and Toyota LandCruiser. To ensure a perfect fit, please measure the required internal diameter and length for your specific application before ordering.

What are the key quality features of GASO silicone hoses?

We build our hoses to last. Key features include:

  • 4-Ply Reinforced Strength: Made with high-grade silicone, avoid anything less.
  • 5mm Wall Thickness: Prevents pinching and collapsing.
  • Heat & UV Resistance: Withstands 180°C continuous heat and 220°C spikes.
  • Smooth Interior: Optimises airflow for better performance.
  • Oil Mist Safe: Resists blow-by vapours in turbo applications.
  • Non-Conductive: Safe to use around sensitive engine sensors.
  • Tested to SAE J20: Meets rigorous industry benchmark quality standards.

How do you cut a silicone hose for a custom fit?

Cutting our multi-ply silicone hose is straightforward with the right tool. For the cleanest cut, we recommend using a sharp stanley knife with fresh blade or a dedicated hose cutter. To ensure a straight cut:

  1. Secure a silicone hose clamp to the end you want to cut. Use the edge as a guide to ensure a straight and even cut.
  2. You can also wrap masking tape around the hose where you want to cut. This provides a clear line to follow.
  3. Place the hose on a stable, flat surface.
  4. Use firm, even pressure to cut through the hose, following the edge of the clamp or tape. A slow, sawing motion can help get through the reinforced layers cleanly.
  5. Do not roll the hose as you go, reposition it instead.
  6. When you get to the bridge of the clamp, loosen it and reposition it to ensure a continuous straight cut.

Can I use this silicone hose for fuel or oil lines?

No. While our hoses are resistant to oil mist and engine blow-by, they are not designed to be submerged in or carry pressurised fuel or oil. Using them as fuel or oil lines is unsafe and will cause the hose to degrade. Please use a dedicated, fuel-rated hose for these applications.

What kind of clamps should I use with this hose?

For a secure, leak-proof seal, we highly recommend using T-bolt style hose clamps. Their design provides strong, even clamping pressure around the entire circumference of the hose without damaging the silicone, which is essential for high-pressure turbo and cooling systems.
