Cranky's Story
At Cranky's Performance, our journey is fuelled by a lifelong passion for automotive excellence. Our founder, known affectionately as "Cranky," embarked on this path from a teenager. In 1997, under the mentorship of Australian racing legend Peter Hopwood, Cranky and his friends undertook the ambitious project of installing an RS2000 Mk II engine into a Ford Escort Mk I. This endeavour not only honed their mechanical skills but also ignited a deep-seated love for high-performance vehicles.
The transformed Escort Mk I, a testament to their dedication, went on to compete in the renowned Targa Tasmania rally, showcasing the team's commitment to excellence and innovation. This experience solidified Cranky's resolve to delve deeper into the automotive world.
Cranky's expertise didn't go unnoticed. He consulted for industry giants such as Carsales, Bob Jane T-Marts, and General Motors. Notably, he played a pivotal role in the historic launch of Holden's VE Commodore in 2006, a project famously dubbed the "Billion Dollar Baby" due to its significant investment and impact on the Australian automotive landscape.
With a wealth of passion and a clear vision, Cranky established Cranky's Performance. Our mission is to provide automotive enthusiasts with top-tier aftermarket parts and accessories. We specialise in components for classic V8 engines, including Ford Windsor, Ford Cleveland, GM LS, Small Block Chevy (SBC), Big Block Chevy (BBC), and Holden models, as well as universal parts to build your own turbo intake system or custom exhaust system.
At Cranky's Performance, we don't just supply parts; we share your passion for performance and precision. Join us on this exhilarating journey, and let's get cranking!
