Weight Distribution Hitches & Shanks

A weight distribution hitch is chosen by ball weight, not trailer weight. Weigh your loaded ball weight, then pick the rating that brackets it: the 3500/270kg hitch suits ball weights up to 270kg and the 3500/355kg up to 355kg. Bars rated too high ride harshly; rated too low, they cannot level the rig. The shank drop is separate: measure from the top of your hitch receiver to the coupling height with the van level, then choose the 100mm or 150mm drop accordingly. Check that your towbar and coupling manufacturer permit weight distribution use, as some vehicles and couplings exclude it, and confirm your coupling type is compatible before fitting.
